The Arya Laghaie Indigenous People's Rights Scholarship

The Indigenous People's Rights Scholarship was created in 2007 in memory of St. Thomas University School of Law graduate Arya Laghaie. An alumn of the Master of Laws Program in Intercultural Human Rights, Arya was a young man who worked to provide services to indigenous communities and advocate for indigenous peoples' rights.

In 2007, Arya tragically lost his life in a hit and run accident in Gallup New Mexico while returning home after volunteering in Native American Baha'i Institute in Arizona. This educational scholarship is established by the Saint Thomas University School of Law and has been supported by the family and friends as well as the alumni and faculty of St. Thomas University School of Law, to carry on Arya's work. »
